Welcome to Psychology Practice Welter
Everyone sometimes suffers from gloomy, insecure or anxious feelings and we all eventually experience a setback. Usually you can deal with this, but sometimes you get stuck and you can use personal guidance so that you can then continue on your own. I would be happy to help you with this.

I work as an independent mental health psychologist and offer short-term therapy in basic mental health care from a pleasant practice space on Grote Looiersstraat in Maastricht. Because I have entered into a contract with all health insurers, my treatments are 100% reimbursed from the basic package.

Kind regards,
Juul Welter

Therapy
My way of working is aimed at giving you insight into your thoughts, feelings and behavior. With attention to possible negative causes from the past, but mainly focused on what hinders you in the here and now and how to deal with this differently. The conversations are insightful and motivating in nature with a goal-oriented and practical approach.

To make treatment personal and tailor-made, I combine elements from different forms of therapy, with cognitive behavioral therapy serving as the basic therapy of the treatment. Other forms of therapy that I can add to this, depending on the complaint and request for help, are: solution-oriented therapy, schema therapy, Mindfulness, ACT and EMDR. In addition to face-to-face conversations, I also offer support via online e-health modules via Therapieland or an exclusively online process is possible.

Possible goals within the treatment are:
suffer less from fear and panic, such as the fear of a negative judgement, the fear of failure or making a mistake, fear that things will go terribly wrong or the fear of having a panic attack
more control over your thoughts and feelings, less worrying and better emotion regulation
suffer less from physical complaints (chronic pain and/or fatigue)
experience less sadness and can enjoy life more
processing negative and/or traumatic events in the past

About me
I followed basic training as a psychologist in Maastricht and later the postdoctoral training as a Healthcare Psychologist (Gz) psychologist in Amsterdam. Before I started my own practice in Amsterdam, I worked for years in various independent psychotherapy practices where the focus was often on anxiety and mood problems. I have also worked in various rehabilitation centers with people with unexplained physical complaints (MUS) with chronic pain and fatigue. As a native of Maastricht, I have decided to move back to the south and continue my practice here.

Important values for me in therapy are: feeling recognized and heard, coming to a request for help and a solution together and working on this in a constructive way. My way of working is characterized by calm, understanding, research and interpretation. By putting a finger on the sore spot with attention to processing and letting go of dysfunctional patterns where necessary, regain focus and get a grip on the positive side of life.

Report
Referral
If you want to be eligible for reimbursement from your health insurer, you must be in possession of a valid referral letter for basic mental health care from your GP (not older than 6 months) when registering (pre-intake). This must state the following: the suspicion of a DSM-5 disorder; referral to basic mental health care; and finally the personal AGB code of the referring GP.

In the case of a valid referral letter, you can register by email or telephone after I have received the referral, preferably via Zorgdomein or Tipp. We then briefly discuss a number of matters by telephone (pre-intake), such as the nature of the registration, complaints and request for help, and we schedule a first and second intake interview.

Intake
During the intake interviews or the assessment assessment, we determine together how many treatment appointments are approximately necessary and we make further agreements about the content of the treatment depending on the complaints and the request for help. These are then agreed in a treatment plan, after which the treatment can start. In general, treatment in basic mental health care lasts an average of 6-8 conversations after intake, up to a maximum of 10-12 conversations. The complaint, complexity and duration of the complaints are examined and it is assumed that the complaints are of mild to moderate severity without complexity or long-lasting complaints. Frequency of treatment is once every two weeks with an average duration of 60 minutes per session.

Rate and compensation
As a BIG-registered Gz psychologist working in basic mental health care, I have contracts with all health insurers in 2025. My treatments are therefore fully reimbursed by basic insurance (with the exception of the annual deductible). In 2025, the deductible will be 385 euros, provided you have not increased it yourself. If you have any uncertainties or other questions, it is best to contact the insurer.

During the assessment phase, the telephone pre-intake (15-30 minutes) and intake interview(s) are billed as diagnostic consultations (maximum four diagnostic consultations) and subsequently as treatment consultations. These have a duration of 60 minutes or in the case of double consultations in the case of EMDR 90 or 120 minutes. The following applies: planning = realization. If a session is completed earlier, the scheduled time will be invoiced.

The Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa) has published current rates for diagnostics and treatment consultations in 2025. See the 'rate list 2025' link below or visit the NZa Rate Finder at https://zorgperformancemodel.nza.nl.

If there is no diagnosis or if it falls within uninsured care in the Netherlands (including an adjustment disorder such as work-related problems, called 'burn-out' or a relationship problem), we call this service 'Non-basic package care consultation (ggz)' and the rate for this in 2024 is 131.82 euros per 45-minute call and will be invoiced pro rata for a 60-minute session (175.76 euros). If a conversation lasts longer or involves additional indirect time, the session will be invoiced pro rata. This amount will not be reimbursed. This rate also applies if you want to pay for the conversations yourself without the intervention of the health insurer. If the employer pays for the treatment, separate rates apply.
Please note that as of January 2022, there has been a change in the financing system of the healthcare system in the Netherlands. For more information about the new Healthcare Performance Model (ZPM) and what this means for treatment and reimbursements, click on the link below.
